Exercise-Induced Happiness

HEE HEE! I read this phrase in an article in Runner's World which talked about therapists who insist on treating their patients while running. They say the act of running itself helps people not only become happier, but also allows them to dig deeper into solving their issues. Boy, have I experienced this to be true! When I am not focusing on how darn much my legs and tushy hurt or how many more minutes until I can take a walk break, I do tend to solve the problems of the world when I run.

Today I ran at 8:00am with a neighbor and it nearly killed me, physically. However, we upped the ratio to 7&1 (and I survived), so that's one more run for the log. YEEHAW. I totally have exercise-induced happiness at the moment.

Run on, Gutsy Moms!

Another One Bites the Dust

It's Friday. I'm down another pound to 157, officially. 16 gone forever, and 7 to go to get to my pre-pregnancy weight (PPW). I have a friend whose child is nearly 2 months younger than mine, and she is already 5 pounds below her PPW. Sigh. All in good time, little grasshopper.

Went running yesterday (hot and slow) and will do a workout video today during afternoon nap.

My hubby leaves tomorrow for a short business trip. Nine days. Not excited about that, but as long as I don't watch Blood Diamond again, I should be able to keep my spirits up.

Reality Check

Okay, folks, it's been a while since I wrote about my fitness goals and where I am with all of that. Silence can really only mean one thing: I fell off the wagon. I didn't fall very hard or very far, but let's just say there were some bratwursts and a few trips to Burger King in there, not to mention a few days where I found it very easy to convince myself I didn't need to workout.

I know why it happened, but that doesn't matter. What matters is moving forward.

My "deadline" is approaching, and as such I have re-dedicated myself to getting myself where I want to go. I'm now at 158 (total loss of 15 pounds), with 8 more pounds to lose to hit my pre-pregnancy weight. With a little less than 6 weeks until Jillsie turns one, there's no more messing around. I'm journalling all my food again, and committing to 6 workouts (3 runs, 3 others) a week. If Vicki can go running in the AZ heat, I sure as heck can go running in the Bavarian heat.

So here we go! I did a 30-minute Firm workout today and I sweated like a stuck pig and it was delightful.

Mmmmmm....chocolate. Just a little bit goes a long way.

Hiking is exhausting! Hey, check out my BFF's blog; she has a very similar picture!

Here I am making my "Duffy" face!

I am so excited that we are hitting the trail again!
