Urgent Matter Easily Addressed

Madelyn is calling "Mommy! Mommy!" from her crib to signal to me that naptime is over. I head into the girls' room to get her out of the crib.  She says:

Maddie: Oh. Mommy. Where's Jillson. I willy needa talk to her.
Me: You need to talk to Jillson?
Maddie: Yes. I willy needa talk to her.
Me: Hold on. (While I'm changing Maddie's diaper, Jillson walks in. How convenient.)
Maddie: Oh. Jillson. I willy needa talk to you.
Jillson: Okay. What is it?
Maddie: You have 'nack yet?
Jillson: No, I was waiting for you to have snack.
Maddie, giggling: Ank-oo, Jillson.  Ank-oo fer waiting me fer 'nack.

They are now having snack. Together. Happily.

Oh they are growing so FAST! This is a lovely tale. What amazing things the brains of children are. May Jillson and Maddy always be to each other the pleasure that they share right now. This is sweet indeed.

Katie, I am totally enamored of my children's brains! I realize this is kind of a gauche trait for a parent to have, but I can't help it! I love imagining how they must come up with their ideas. I especially love watching the way they relate to each other. It is so sweet to behold. I'm never sure if writing it down can really capture the full beauty of it, but I AM sure that writing it down at least preserves part of it for me, so that when I am old and grey I can sit down in front of my blog archives and reminisce!
