Hilton Head Highlights Part Two

Settling in at Meme and Kiki's. The girls woke up and ran right into the Carolina room and found their respective favorites as though it were Christmas morning.

An "interpretive" version of a Jillson-original piece called "Mom is the Rain."

Nature walk at Fish Haul Creek.

Thousands of baby fiddler crabs just like this little guy. It must be hard hauling that huge arm around when you are so tiny.

Rehydrating & re-carbing.

On to the nearby beach. These are my first beach photos from the trip, though it was not our first beach. When we went to Islanders' Beach I was too chicken to bring the nice camera (afraid of miscreant sand), though I took some pics with the dinky pinky (my old, temperamental yet beloved point-and-shoot), and there are a few shots on the GD's blackberry. Perhaps you'll see them some day... along with the pics from Mitchellville Beach, or, as Jillson dubbed it "Sticky Beach." Got the Bob stuck in the muddy sand on the way to the water. It was seriously icky-sticky. But let's get back to Fish Haul, a very nice little beach, now known to our little clan as "The Rocky Beach."

Hilton Head Highlights So Far

(Remember, you can click on the pictures to see an enlarged image with better details.) A trip to the Veterans' Memorial, because we are good Americans.

A visit to Shelter Cove to choose boats. Jillson liked this "medium-sized" one, but on closer inspection decided it just wasn't big enough. "Big enough for what?" I asked. "For my whole family to fit on there." I love the way she thinks.

I preferred this one. As it turns out, it was made in Maine. Go figure. And it's for sale! Only $80K! Jillson told me I could have the money out of her schnecke-bank to help raise the funds. Again, I like the way she thinks.

This is the one that caught the Gutsy Dad's eye, purely for name only.

Choosing a boat was exhausting, so we rested up and moved on to window shopping.

Last stop: ice cream break. You see that face? You don't want to get in the way of a girl when she's doing some serious relaxing. Trust me on this one.

May LOAD Wrap-up

Here is the link to the photos of the layouts I made in May's challenge. I can't believe I made it through another month. Astute readers/viewers will notice my first ever (and second ever) horizontal 11x8.5 layout and my first ever digital layout. I enjoyed the former, but not so much the latter, though I can see where digi may have a small place in my story-telling world -- I can see it being useful for certain projects and applications.

Meanwhile, we've been in a sort of crazy limbo-land this past month, with good friends moving away, beloved family visiting us, school activities ending, two weeks of summer vacation looming, and the new school year starting up rather soon (July for the Gutsy Dad and August for Jillson). It's hard to know if I am coming or going. Add in the new gym obsession and the stress of changing tenants in our Washington home, and I've been a bit out to lunch.

If I know you in real life, please know I'll be returning from said lunch ASAP.

Love,
the GM
